small problem with the s4
ok so while im driving along at around 3k rpm and if i floor it from 3k-4k rpms it kinda cuts in and out of boost all i have is hyperboost dv's, samco tbb, giac chip, and full exhaust so i have know clue what it could be.....except for maybe its not getting enough air but idk......anyone else experience this problem with your s4's??

could be maf sensor. when the power cut, did it feel like someone was tappin the brakes really hard?
yes it did i just drove it again and it does it now in most of the gear from that range right around when it hits full boost it pins you back in your seat then it feels like someone hit the brakes.....if it was the maf sensor what would i need to do to fix it just replace it or what??
so i just plugged in the vag cable and this is what it said...
7 Faults Found: 18010 - Power Supply Terminal 30: Voltage too Low 18058 - Shareware Version. To Decode all DTCs 17964 - Shareware Version. To Decode all DTCs 17521 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor: B1 S1: Internal Resistance too High 17539 - Shareware Version. To Decode all DTCs t16815 - Shareware Version. To Decode all DTCs 16805 - Warm Up Catalyst: Bank 1: Efficiency Below Threshold but i checked all o2 sensors and it said they were all fine so idk can anyone tell me what these mean |
Mine was doing that, To me it was like it was bucking, I had a bad egt sensor.
hmm I have no clue about the vag com meanings. I just know from past experience what it feels like to have a bad maf sensor because i've had to replace mine on my old b6 probably 5 times in two years. ANNOYING! when you boost it feels like someone hittin the brakes really hard and then the rpms cut out. That to me is a dead give away that its a maf sensor. I would take it in somewhere asap just to be sure. Maf sensors usually cost around 200 bucks or so..fyi. I dont think you can actually fix it without having to replace the actual sensor but I could be wrong. Everytime I took it in..it needed to be replaced but who knows...tuner shop could have been rippin me off.

ya but when i was doing the vag diagnostics and looking at it cylinder 2 had 1 out of 5 misfires so maybe its that but i have no clue i guess ill take it into the dealership tommorow and ask them
ok if you are havin misfires could be a bad ignition coil that needs replaced. Not too expensive.
Don't take it to the stealership, swap out the coilpack on cylinder 2 with another and see if the misfires follow the coil pack. If that's not it, it's most likely the ICM
Had the same problem with mine. Turned out to be EGT sensors (as someone already stated). pretty expensive but fixed the problem.
Although vag-com should have pointed that out. |
