...a 2001.5 S4.

The car looks really nice! It's a one owner (according to the ad. i havent checked carfax yet), 2001.5 with 73,000 miles on it.

I know there are some things I need to look at to make sure they have been replaced. I've done some research and put a small list together, but please, if you have anything to add, post it up. I'm still an audi noob so any help you guys give me will be appreciated.

Anyways, heres my list. Add anything else that i missed (most of the info came from the FAQ):

-try to get all maintenance records
-make sure oil changes were done on time
-make sure recalls were done (btw, what are they?)
-check for paint/body work
-get a ppi
-check timing belts
-check for boost leaks
-check the throttle body boot
-make sure sensors/thermostats work
-check DVs

I'm sure I missed some things. Anything else to look for on S4s?


A few more questions:

What is the best oil to use with S4s?

Overall, what do you guys think?

Very clean adn I like that alcantera! coolant tank needs to be switched! yellow ewwyy! hah
Best oil.. I use royal purple. others are mobil 1, elf, amsoil. use only synthetic!

 

that is a good price i would check car fax it might be a salvage, and that would suck.

 

that was probably me. haha. i posted on AZ, AW, AF, NTAG (north texas audi group) to see where i would get the best and fastest response.

 

side note: Mobil 1 is not a true synthetic.

If you don't consider Group III base oils synthetic (I don't), there is some question WRT RP also.

Look for oils that specify PAO or Group IV/V based.
