Default VAG com for beginners

Can anyone point me to the best place for absolute beginners guide to vag-com? I'm talking about a guide starting with "Double click the vag-com icon." Hopefully that would then take me up to the most advanced features. I have found a few forums about the program but I really need a better jumping off point. Also if anyone has any advice on how to use this tool to is maximum capabilities, I would appreciate it very much. (Please don't suggest some other program/logger unless it is free or used in conjunction the the VAG, thanks)

There are a number of things I am trying to accomplish. I would like to know how to log or get real time air/fuel ratios. I would also like to know the best way to test the saftey/smoothness of the 100 octane race program. So I assume this involves monitoring knock, and maybe the A/F ratio. But I have no idea what to log or how to interpret results.I would also be interested if VAG can log boost pressure or show real time readings.
-Most important, I want to run some FATS and I would like a step by step for how to do that.
