what is the best oil for my s4 ?i been using 5w30 mobil 1 fully syntetic. i live in sd so it's cold during winters . what is your apinion?

 

Get the 5w40. That viscosity meets VW/Audi's spec.

 

I use Elf 5w-40

 

The best stuff is the 5w40 Pentosin. That's what the mechanic who's been doing my oil changes on my Avant uses. As much as I like my dealer service he's way cheaper. He does the oil change on a 1.8T for $60 including the 1 qt Mann filter. The Audi shop I use gets $125

 

I've used Amsoil OW-30 with every vehicle I've owned and absolutely love it in all weather/temps. Great product.

 

what about mobil 1 0w30?

 

fully synthetic is best every 5k or so if I go longer I am not worried because synthetic can go 2-3 times longer. royal purple. 5w30 or 5w40.

I have always used Amsoil in all my cars my Mustang lives it and I have never had anyproblems with it even running low 10's in the quarter so the Audi will be seeing Amsoil from now on

 

Same here, I change it more than reccommended, but I still go 10K and change just the filter and 20K before I do a full change. After running it through that first time, from then on the oil is as clear when I drain it at 20K as the day I put it in. I absolutely love the stuff.

 

I use Mobil 1 5W-30. I do a full filter and oil change every 4K miles or so, a bit soon for most people but I am trying to prolong the life of this sensitive engine. I am contemplating switching to either Elf or Royal Purple, I have heard good things about both.
