How to open and close windows via remote on an Audi S5

Carista is a mobile app that lets you customize your car for your liking, check it for problems and clear any fault codes. All you need is the Carista app (available both for Android and iOS) and an OBD2 adapter.

One of the very cool customizations that can be enabled with Carista is opening and closing your windows by holding the “unlock” or “lock” button on the remote!

This is how you do it:
Plug in your OBD adapter, open the Carista app on Android or iOS, click “CUSTOMIZE”, then “Doors / Windows / Remote” and set all of the following settings to YES:
  • Enable settings for opening/closing windows and sunroof
  • Open/close windows and sunroof via long-press on remote
  • Close windows via long-press on remote
  • Open windows via long-press on remote

After you’ve done those, a new menu will show up in your MMI, under Settings -> “Central locking”. You must enable comfort-opening the windows via the remote from there as well.

Now press and hold the unlock button on your remote to open all windows (and optionally, the sunroof as well, depending on your other settings in Carista). Press and hold the lock button on the remote to close the windows and/or sunroof. Note that you need to hold down the button for a few seconds before the windows start moving, so make sure you’re giving it enough time. It does not matter whether you have a smart key; the settings are the same.

Here you can see sample list of customizations available for the S5: Customizations | Carista OBD2 - Vehicle Diagnostics and Customization

These settings work also on Audi A4, S4, RS4, A5, S5, RS5 (all B8 platform) and Q5 models.
