RE: strange cover on disc brakes?

The infamous “UFO” brake rotor. The caliper grabs on the inside, offering a much bigger rotor surface area - in theory. In practice they suck! Prone to warping and very expensive to replace ($250...

RE: power loss (URGENT)

Without hearing the sound it's hard for me to say but we can probably eliminate the transmission. If the noise is somewhat high pitched here is what could be making the noise;

Timing belt idler...

RE: 1983 Audi 5000 problems

The idle problem is probably due to a vacuum leak, the hard starting problem could also be the end result. It probably takes about 45 minutes for the engine to cool down sufficiently for the cold...

RE: 87 cs5000 turbo quattro-any genius out there?

5K and early 100/200 had problems with fuel tank coating pealing off and clogging the micro filters restricting fuel flow when you need it the most.

RE: Multi Function Dash?

You need the display assembly and a new wiper switch, then you will need to calibrate the whole thing according to the instructions in the service manual.

RE: 1985 Coupe GT. No start. fuel but no spark. Please help

Had a similar problem with 91 100Q except it was crapping out intermittently. It’s probably the hall sensor inside the distributor.

RE: How to compress Audi 200 rear brake cylinder?

Press and turn is the way. If your caliper is rusted which I suspect it is you will need to take it apart or get a rebuild. FIY It is a royal PITA to take the parking assembly/plunger apart....

RE: 10v vs. 20v.... which is better and why ?

20V has more power and even bigger potential, parts are somewhat rare and expensive. Stuffing 20V into an 80 is going to be a PITA but it has been done. The stock CIS is more reliable IMO but...

RE: parts for 4000cs quattros

Forget it, the aftermarket for these models evaporated in the 90's! You can retrofit some parts of the 5000, 200 and 100 models.

RE: Differential Lock Not Working

Jack up the car hook up a handheld vacuum pump and see if the actuator is working. According to my Audi books it is a common problem for the rubber bellows to rupture.

RE: 1984 5000S - Poor performance when cold

Check the engine coolant temperature sensor, I have seen a few of those contacts go green and give cold starting problems. Also check the throttle micro switch.
