If you don't use the High octane petrol then you will end up with probloms it will cause bad running. I havn't seen the A3 FSI have such a problom with it yet but I have seen an A2 run on cheap...

When you say they checked the battery did they do a drop test on it or just check the V reading with a multi-meter? The battery may show twelve voltes on the multi meter (with out cranking) but...

It would be good place to start with the sparks if they are the wrong ones then it will cause running problems, also if they were done up with an air ratchet it could be possible that one is cracked....

Sounds like the stero is doggy, in need of replacment, there isn't a relay for the stero this is all done inside the stero. To remove the stero you need specail keys which makes it an easy removal.

Which lambda is it?

If you take the air box out you will be able to see down the side of the engine and locate the lambda on the exhaust pipe you will proberly need a lambda socet and a flexy head ratchet. good luck
