Default Audi from Downunder.

Hello Audi ENTHUSIASTS!!!
I live in Brisbane, Australia & am proud to announce that I have recently acquired an Audi of my own to love and cherish, this 1999 A4:

Drives very well at the moment but of course there are always SOME issues*** with a 10 year old car so LOOK OUT for my Q's in the technical forums! I've ridden motorbikes for the past 5 years as transport, this is my first car - there's just so much more STUFF than an engine and a seat = Buttons everywhere!! I'm not a mechanic but am not totally mechanically incompetant so can pull basic things apart (ie: change oil / brake fluid etc) if I have to! .. I look forward to all the info

Happy motoring!
Cheers,

Welcome to the forums Rick!

Nice and clean looking B5 you have there!

What kind of engine does it have?

Hi Kriptonic,
Yeah, thanks, its pretty tidy, a few small things to do to it like get the oildipstick tube etc - missing 2 rim centrecaps as well etc, ) I'm quite picky~ )m overall its in excellent cond'n

It has the 1.8t 4cyl engine. It is the quattro version though, does that mean its the 132kW version??

Also I've been reading that there's a 99 and 99.5 version?? Do you know what this means, does it refer to the car or the engine>
Cheers.
RIck

Hmm... Not too sure what you mean by kW (kilo-watt?). If you're talking about power, the 1.8T makes 150HP except for 2001, in which it makes 170HP.

The 1999 version is considered as the pre-facelift with minor interior and exterior differences. One of the noticeable difference would be the two piece headlights that come with the pre-facelift and 1999.5+ having one piece projector headlights. All of the B5's mostly have the same engines except for 2001.

Note that I'm basing it on US models/specs. I'm not too sure about Australian markets. Do you guys get it right from Europe or you have your own market?

yeah by kW I mean power. 1 bhp ~= .75kW
I doubt very much we would have our own market?? I suspect we just get the Right Hand Drive models from Europe which are then made to comply with some of the safety standards we have here.

I know Toyota has their own market for some cars (Camry being one of them) as they are selling really well over there.

Unless the previous owner or you've changed the headlights, it looks like they are the European version (along with the bumpers).
