Default cracked leather

I have a 2006 A4 2.0T Quattro and I've recently noticed the leather has started cracking on the driver’s side seat. I only have 16K on the cars and I've taken great care of it. I have not had this problem with any of the other A4’s I’ve owned. Is this something that would be covered under the warranty? Has anyone else had this issue?

Any leather if left uncared for is going to dry and crack with time. I would recommend stopping by any place with a car care section and picking up a bottle of leather cleaner and conditioner and applying a few coats. This should help to stop the cracking and soften the leather back up.

Thats crazy dude. Have had my A4 for almost three years. No cracking or even any signs of wear. I have never once used any leather products on my seats. Not sure if its covered under W.

I have a 2005.5 A4 2.0T (silver exterior/black interior) with cracked/splitting leather - driver's side bolster on the door side. It started about 1.5 years after a purchased the car brand new. The car is garaged while at home and at work (i.e., not too much sun exposure). I'm only 170lb, so it's not as if the leather has had sufferedexcessivestress. I even clean and condition it 1-2 times/year with quality products. I beentold by the dearler that the Audi warranty does not cover leather after 12months/12k miles.

I understand that leatheris "natural material" madefrom a cow's hide and is subject to natural variations. Some pieces of leather are probably thinner and inferiorto others. I believe that cracking so quickly for "gently treated" leather is indicative of a quality control problem in the selection of leather being used by Audi. It'sdisappointing to buy a $35k car only to have the seats cracking after 1.5 years.

Hey Man, same thing happend with my 06 A3, dealer said it was coverd, but I traded in before it ever got fixed, the service rep was telling me it was coverd, tho, but he broke up with me when the A3 turned 50001 miles, good luck with that. hopefully the A4 does not have those issues!!

I have a 2006 A4 2.0T with 16K miles. Noticed last night that my leather has a small crack in the exact same spot as MRF mentioned above (drive's side bolster on the door side). Sounds like this could be a common defect that Audi should address. I baby my A4 - car is always garaged, condition my leather with Sonus leather conditioner about 3 times/year.

Hey Guys,
I Also have a crack in the exact same spot on my 2007 A4. I thought it was a slice but when I showed my buddy who repairs vinyl and leather interiors, he told me that it is not a slice but a crack like you guys have mentioned. One thing I didn't know though was that part of the seat is not even leather it is vinyl, thats why you can see the white mesh underneath the crack. He said something about automakers only having to have 30% of the actual seats leather to claim " leather interior package " so only the middle panels of the our seats are genuine leather. With only 35,000 kms on the car I think it's safe to say the vinyl Audi is using is poor quality. I'll be sending this picture in to my service manager at the dealership. Let me know if any of you guys have had luck with warranty? Thanks -Jay
