Default Assistance Please..Strange noise after valve cover gasket replace

I have a strange noise on the car after replacing the valve cover and cam chain gaskets (metal one and half circle). It does appear the leak is gone though, still burning something, hope that it is residual oil for the moment. All items appear to have been reinstalled and reconnected. Bolts torqued to specks.

At idle and when accelerating or revving the engine there is click click click noise almost like a card in a spoke. at a constant rpm 1500 for example this goes away but shows up at idle or when revving. I have vag com and have no codes.

Any thoughts on what to check?

Thanks for your help in advance!

the oil could be coming out of your cam plug which is that round thing the size of a silver dollar right below the cam adjuster seal. if you crank down to much on that tool when replacing the cam adjuster seal you can break the tensioner which might be the cause of your noise. im not for sure though. also maybe that half moon shape isnt in there right and allowing noise(and maybe more oil) to leak through.

We were very careful not to crank on the tensioner too much, went till it was snug and we had enough room to lift and remove half moon and the metal piece and to replace them. Oil was leaking before from front drivers side and rear passenger side. No new oil is in either location and the smoking has decreased.

Half moon is seated in its position 100% also.

Sound appears to be from center back almost lower. any other thoughts, I hate to drive this too much with the new sound.

do you think you knocked a vacuum hose lose maybe? i think what you might need to do is retrace all your steps. check each bolt, clip, part. im out of ideas. maybe if you got a video clip, that'd help

As in damaged from tightening the cam chain tool too much? We were more worried on the driver side as it stuck and did not return the chain to tight, but on the passenger side it extended up as it should. would that not throw an engine code?

It seams to come from the very back of the engine possibly lower.

what about a simple thing like how hard it is to push that corner of the gasket in to make a seal.
