I have a 2004 audi a4 Quattro. I was driving home from work today and I noticed when I tried accelerating in the 70/80 km/h in 3rd gear it kinda felt like the gear slipped. The engine light blinked several times and then stopped. Its not a consistent thing. It happened several times though.

 

may sound like a dumb question but are you sure it wasn't the traction control light blinking several times and maybe you thought it was the engine light?
