Mystery to me!
Bought the A4 and it only came with 1 key. Bought it and figured - how much could that cost. Well best I could figure it would cost approx. $250 - how can anybody explain that?
Understand key has to be programmed but was told has to be program on line with Germany.
Question - Can I buy a blank, get cut and use it without worrying about flip key, security, blah blah blah. I just want a bck-up.

the key needs to be laser etched to start your car, so there is no cheap way out of it.

 

Thanks for the reply - I guess I was aware of the cut but unsure of the programming.
If I get a key blank and get it cut what will happen when I unlock the door while the alarm is set?
Like everything else there are tons of places to get the blanks but even the shop that has done some work on my A4 says you have to use a dealer to program.
