If i were to race a stock 944 5-speed(base model non-turbo) who would win, my A6 is stock for now

the porsche does 0-60 in 8.8 seconds ik my is faster then that.......

With is being lighter with more HP whats holing it back?
Is the gearing really bad on the 944?
It's been years since i've driven one.

I agree though numbers won't always tell you who's going to win.
But it seems like RWD cars launch from a dig better.

Race him and post the info i'm pretty interested in hearing who wins.

My buddy has a 944 Turbo and with the little work that is done to it I know he likes to spin the tires in second.

Horsepower for the 944 is 150 for the regular 944. I have owned 2 before. The 944S is 190hp. The 944S2 has 208hp. And the 944 turbo is 217. The regular 944 made from 1983-1988 can go from 0-60 in 8.3 secs.

With some modifictions you can bring a regular 944 up to decent speeds. Chip, intake, exhaust, throttle body cam. 0-60 in just over 7 sec. The turbo is a different story. Just a chip can turn it into a beast that would rival most cars on the road today.

Yup. stock 944 is 150hp.. Stock turbo is 217... Stock turbo S is 256 (IIRC)

I have 2 944turbo's I drive around now.. One with just a chip has 275hp, and the other is all out.. (water injection, intercooler scoop, 3in exhaust, T3/T04, piggyback fuel management, full coil overs.. everything else.. Its our track car) It should be around 420hp with the big turbo. The stock turbo we were at 275rwhp. without water injection, ie low boost, 91octane.


The gearing on the 944 N/A is really good, close ratio box.


Power to weight is the same, so I figure its about TQ curve and driver now.. (the quattro would net you an off the line victory..)
