Default Tips on Launching/Racing with a Stage 3 Clutch

I have a 2001 1.8t quattro with a stage 3 clutch, 15 lb flywheel, upgraded engine and tranny mounts, and will be getting chipped soon. I'd like to know the basics for drag racing my car. Where should I have the tach when launching and how do I master the clutch pedal release/throttle engagement? And lastly, at what RPM should I shift? The boost seems to cut out just before red line, is this normal?

I have a slightly bigger turbo then you and stg4 clutch. On my car I sidestep the clutch at 6K RPM and put my foot 2 the floor and the tires spin a bit 2 prevent bogging. I have no idea of the Rpms to launch on a stock turbo, but shift around 5500 RPM, because the tiny stock turbo falls on its face and the more boost you run, the faster it drops off in the rev range. FOr the launch DROP DA MOTHA ****** CLUTCH. If you slip it you can glaze the clutch or worse stick the clutch and flywheel together. The clutch disc can not disipate heat, a puck clutch wouldn't have the problem, but would not be good as a DD.

1. Let the clutch pedal up so its just below the engagement point.
2. Blip the throttle so that the rpms just just hit the rpm you want to launch at
3. on a down stroke of the rpms go WOT(press the gas to the floor)
4. when the tach gets to the rpm you want to launch just release the clutch in 1 motion.

K03 sweet spot for launching is right around 4k. Increasing the tire pressure to 45psi helps get the car out of the hole with a K03.

Never ever slip that Stage 3 other wise it will end up welding itself to the flywheel.

Sorry didn't see this post till now.

Any idea on the shift points? At which RPM is best to shift in each gear? I'm guessing redline is a little high.

No idea, still new to racing.

It is mainly about feel, but with a K03 you will want to take 1st gear to about 6k and after that around 5500 for the rest of the gears.
