Air suspension ECU failing again and again
Hi Audi folks.
I have a Audi Allroad 2003 where the ECU for the air suspension fails again and again. The local Audi dealer have replaced four ECU and all ride height sensors including wiring to the sensors. Still no improvement. The Audi dealer want to continue troubleshoot but want us to pay for every ECU failing, "This is out of our control" they say and can not carry the cost. At $1000 each ECU this quickly add to the cost of buying the car. Being an electrical engineer I try to solve this myself. It seems like the ECU fails after the doors have been locked. The Audi dealer say it works fine with a new ECU but when picking up the car at the parking lot outside the shop the ECU is not working. I have bought a used ECU and installed. IT worked partly when installing but when continue troubleshooting the next day the box was damaged. (yes, I locked the doors) Even with a defect box I am able to read several parameters like air pressure, temperature and all four height sensors. This tells me the CPU inside the box is OK and the internal communication over the SPI bus is working as the input can be read. When I installed the used box I was able to run the test using the WAGCOM and Ross-Tech diagnostic with OK as the result for the box When running tests the following faults re-appear after cleaning error codes. 01575 Control Switched OFF 35-00 Permanent 65535 Internal Module Memory Error 00-00 Permanent 01777 Redundant signal path from controls for vehicle leveling (E281) 30-00 open or short to + After cleaning error messages the green lights indicating level 2 appears on the switches on the instrument panel A green LED is also pressent on both the up and down switch. Pressing down is OK but pressing up turns all the LEDs off and lots of faults is stored in the system. 01575 Control Switched OFF 35-00 Permanent I assume this is just because other faults caus ethe control to be disabled. 65535 Internal Module Memory Error 00-00 Permanent I am afraid this is a permanent damage to the control module. Does anybody out there know if it is possible to flash the memory with fresh firmware? Maybe using JTAG or other tools for flashing. 01777 Redundant signal path from controls for vehicle leveling (E281) 30-00 open or short to + This is the one I would like to know more about. There is supposed to be a redundant signal but I am not able to find any connection that appears to be redundant. The only wire I can think about is the one hard-wired to the "UP" switch but removing this does not make any difference. Under is a full fault code report for the vehicle. Please note that the instrument panel is partly dismounted and some faults, like the fan, is a result of removed components. reply..
The rear suspension to my 59 plate C4 GP has just failed! Have contacted several garages who have indicated citroen are currently not allowing the air bags to be supplied! The garages have never heard of a manufacturee doing this before. This leavea me with an unusable car sat on my drive I have contacted citroen and asked for a response to this mattee I will also be contacting watchdog and motoring papers etc as there appears to be a major desogn fault with this part and citroen appear to be doing nothing about it. Can i ask that anyone who has or knows of someone with the same problem register it with citroen. This will mean they cant bury their heads and pretend theirs not a problem.
