Creak in front end , need ideas

I posted this in tt forum and have some consensus of strut bushings.

It started after driving slow on a bad bumpy road.

Now , after exactly 7 miles of driving (not before) I get creaks seeming to come from front left on some bumps, not all, and mostly twisting turns, like going down hill into a parking lot.

Had it in a shop and they inspected controller arms and boots but found nothing and can't determine the source.

Taking off from a stop with some accelleration will do it too.

Just trying to figure out what to do or how to test for it without replacing things I don't need to.

front sway bar bushings going away or strut upper bearings.

I had this problem after doing a coil over suspension in my 02 A6Q 2.7t. I discovered after a few months of putting uo with it, that the strut bumper had come out of place. The bumper sits in the top of the strut bearing plate and holds the strut rod centered in the plate without rubbing. What had happened with mine is the strut rod was rubbing side to side against the metal plate of the upper strut bearing plate causing the annoying squeak. By the time I got to it my strut rod had worn an oblong hole in the bearing plate. Not too cool. Those damned plates are expensive! Now I check to make sure that bumper is still in place every so often. They literally sit in place by just squeezing into the cup on the bottom of the bearing plate. Not sure if this is your problem, but good luck to you either way.

Having the same issue with my 99 A6 quattro after I changed both cv axles. I was thinking oe of the axles I bought was bad but will check your idea out. So do I have to remove the entire strut housing to get to strut bumber
