Review of Godspeed Coilover kit MMX3290
At around 10 months and ~8k miles, I noticed that the car seemed to riding lower and lower and not handling right. Then, driving on a straight road, no bumps, no load in the car, there was suddenly a loud bang from the rear left and the car was DEFINITELY sitting lower. Had it looked at by an ASE-certified undercarriage specialist and he saw right away that the shock top had broken off and stripped. It was a week or two before I could get the car checked out completely, and when they pulled the springs, we could see that the spring on that side was broken. You can tell by looking at it that it had collapsed into itself (where the spiral gets narrower). We theorize that the collapsing is when I noticed the car riding lower, the BANG was it popping back up (and breaking off the top of the shock in the process). This should never happen. I don't put any weight in the back of my car, drive almost exclusively highway miles, and I hit no major potholes with this suspension. Clearly, sub-standard materials are used in the manufacturing of these. We contacted Godspeed, at first just to see if we could PURCHASE the broken shock top only, but they were quickly very unresponsive (they asked a few questions by email, which we replied to promptly, and then...crickets). The pictures tell the story. Don't waste your money, time, and driving pleasure on something so poorly made.
Not much to say about this. The picture says it all!
I now have serious doubts about the quality of the front suspension because it was part of the same kit. I plan to replace everything all around ASAP. Purchased from ECS Tuning.
