Suspension problem?

I'm just about to buy a 2012 a4 avant black edition, but noticed when checking the car over, the gap in the wheel arch on the front is lower on the drivers side than the passenger side by about a finger.

The car car drove well and didn't seem to have any leaks etc. No obvoious signs of damage either. I checked another similar car in the showroom and that seemed to be the same.

Is is this a normal thing with Audi or am I missing a potential problem?
