Free VAGcom vs Paid VAGcom?

Free VAGcom vs Paid VAGcom?
So my question is, what is the difference between the free VAGcom software that you can download from Rosstech vs. the actual paid version? I noticed that you can get a cable from ebay for about $20, and download the older version from the website for free. Is there any difference? If so, then what? Please be specific. Thanks.
