vag-com software (noob)
 

i ordered a vag-com cablenoff ebay....its a china knock off. the guy said it wasnt compatible with windows 8 but i tried it anyway. seemed to work with 409.1 until i tried an initial scan on my friends cabrio. any function i tried to do, the program would just crash. so i tried it with Ross Techs latest software(12.12) and didnt even get that far. so i switched and used 409.1 with my netbook running windows 7. still couldnt get past configuring it. came up with the error "Ross Tech interface not found" for every port. any ideas? im not really a software guy.

The Ross Tech cables are cheap enough , why buy a Cheap Chinese knock off? Send it back to the Chinaman you got it from & get one from Ross Tech. Ross Tech cables works on XP , Vista , Windows 7 & 8 without any problems. I am currently running window 8 with no problems on my Surface Pro 2.

do you use their free software? i mean all the rosstech kits ive found are upwards of $500. i bought it off ebay, mostly bc i frequent ebay for most of my gadgets and such.

Anyone can get the software for free , the cable unlocks the software for use. I have VAG_COM on about 6 laptops does not cost extra & updates are free.
