key-com or key-usb is the one that will work for your car, if you need it to work with newer model audis too, get one of the ones with HEX- and +CAN

if all you want to do is simple stuff like logs, buy a vag-com adapter off ebay for $20 and download the trial version of vag software.

 

can someone explain to me what i couldnt do with the ebay adapter and the free trial software or the $100 software that i could do with the $230 vagcom from ross-tech?

 

i believe with the full version you can change stuff, fuel trims and crap like that, but the trial version just lets you look at codes and logs and clear the codes

 

the trial version lets you log blocks 1-25. the full version gives you access to blocks 26 thru 120 somthing. the full version also lets you adjust fuel timing and other things. if you are going to be doing in depth tuning of your car, definately go for the full version. if you just want to monitor basic stuff, do some logging, and pull codes, the trial version is fine. you do not get to monitor fuel trims in the trial version.

 

you adjust fuel trims with limmiwinks/unisettings and that only works on the 2000+ A4's. So an ebay cable will do that.

I ordered the key-usb and they stop making them and they sent me a hex-usb which has a faster sampling rate. Its going to be worth the extra $100 for the real cable and sw since you get access to everything and wont be out any money if you want more than what you have later

 

can you reset airbag codes with the ebay usb or just check engine codes?
