Default [PA] 1999 A4 Quattro Sport 1.8t Manual ($4200)

Up for sale is my beloved A4. I have owned it for almost 4 years and I still love driving it. Several reasons for selling, mainly though because I'm trying to buy a house.

I will try to post pics by the end of the weekend, tell me what you want to see and I'll do my best.

Car runs and drives very well with only major flaws being cosmetic. It's basically stock, no modification except the DV (which i think is a stock TT dv). Since I've owned it I have replaced all rotors and pads with EBC Green Stuff and slotted rotors; I have replaced all 4 wheel bearings; several coolant hoses; clutch (30K miles ago); timing belt/water pump (40K miles ago- Link to video under A4 forum in sticky at top); repaired headlight switch; all TREs replaced; Control arm set for a low mileage 01 A4 (still nice and tight); K&N air filter; Mobile 1 used for all oil changes; new battery 2 months ago; new tires last fall (85% tread left- maybe more)

Car has all the normal bells and whistles- heated "leather" seats (drive's rip a little), heated pwr mirrors, climate control works perfect, AC blows cold, factory security system, moon roof, etc...

Color is Volcanic Ash Something with tan interior- no woodgrain. I have a modest stereo system installed right now and would be removing that, but I need to find some replacement parts to put back in- the factory stereo does not work and both rear speakers were rotted.

The car could really use some paint work. Couple small dings, few scratches, and plenty of stone chips. Funny thing is, I still get compliments on how nice it looks... just the other day the girls at the Wendy's drive through were telling me they loved my car. People who ride with me say they can't believe it's 10 years old... and has 230,000 miles. Okay, you had to know that was coming.

Thanks for reading- as I mentioned, pics coming soon. You can PM me if you want.

$4200 for a car with 230000 miles is pretty steep

I suppose most might think so too, but it's pretty common for everyone to want to haggle a bit. Keep in mind though that I have replaced or repaired nearly every major mechanical maintenance problems these cars are know for. They are built to last and I feel confident that the car has a long life ahead of it. Besides that I like the car and I wont give it away, just hope I can find a good home for it.

It's a good car, and will probably last well into the 300K range- if properly maintained as I have done.

How much is it worth to you?

230,000 miles and a bad stereo system, I wouldn't expect to get more than $3000, maybe $3200.

Audio system will be returned to factory working condition or as close as possible (6 speakers working and an am/fm cass or CD)

If you wanted to give me, say... $4600 I'll leave the Kenwood Excelon KDC-X911 head unit, JL 300/4 amplifier, MB quart 8" rear speakers and ADS tweeters with passive x-over and the Alpine eX-10 iPod controler custom mounted in the dash. How would that be?

Price can sometimes be relative to area too. An area where there are plenty of A4's to choose from the price may be lower, and in areas where A4's are hard to come by the price may be higher. The car is worth a certain amount, probably not much less than my asking price, and because I know the car is dependable I would just as well keep it then let it go for less than what I need. I know that may not be what you want to hear, but I'm just trying to be fair to myself. Thanks for looking though.

And for those that have contacted me and for those that might, this probably wouldn't be the right car for you if you plan on squeezing lots of horsepower out of it (unless of course you want to change out the motor). One of the best selling points about this car is it has never been modded. That is what makes it so reliable.

Found out I had a sticky guide pin on the right rear caliper. I took it all apart today, lubed it up, surfaced the rear rotors and installed new pads... not EBC like the rest of the braking system, but they are the best Advance Auto Parts had.

Bump
