I love this car, but giving it up. Here's why:
The gear shifter recently gave up going into 1st, 2nd and reverse. Obviously, the shifter is sloppier than it should be. I think (I'm not a mechanic by trade) it's the linkage bushings that need replacing. I called the Audi dealer (no one else had the parts) and they're about $21. Great! However, replacing them will require pulling the transmission--the Audi place says $1300 to do that. As I said, I'm not a mechanic, if you know of contrary info I'll listen!
Tires are great, wheels (yeah, it has those fancy, star pattern wheels) are fine, the engine runs great (battery is dead currently), the turbo--always been a problem--but I don't race, the brakes are fine (had all the calipers and pads replace with high-end equipment from Blaufernugnen last year--even the 'bomb' was replaced previously, AC doesn't work, but most of the equipment is new and could be brought to life. The body is in good condition. There is an old dent on the back hatch. The sunroof goofs up a bit, but I've fixed it before--just haven't messed with it recently.
Anyway, if you want this vehicle to make great or for parts let me know at litfolk at bellsouth.net. I can send photos if you'd like. I want it to go to an Audi lover.
Cheers,
Jim

I failed to put a price down on this: $500.
