2004 Audi A4 tire overinflation?
Hey guys, so I was recently gifted a 2004 Audi A4 cabriolet. On the doorjam on the driver's side, the tire pressures seem to ask for 35 psi on the front wheels, and 38 psi on the back wheels.
Unfortunately, when I pumped the tires back in january, I pumped them to a level somewhat higher than the recommended. Ie, when I just checked my tire pressures (after driving about for ~30 minutes in 85 degree weather), they're currently at 56psi, so I guess in the morning they'd be at around 50-ish.
I'm just wondering how bad this is, and if 35/38 is REALLY the ideal tire pressure for this car. In what sense are they ideal? The tires are 235/45 R17 (not sure what this code represents, but it seems to identify the tire in some capacity).
I'm asking because my dad (who previously owned the car), said that 40-45 was ideal.
thanks,
