This is my first post in this forum so thanks in advance for your attention. I need new tire for my car. The dealership is recommending that I go with Conti tires that cost 1000 for all 4 tires. My buddy who knows much more than I do is telling me to go with a different, cheaper brand and have someone else install them. I'm open to suggestions but I've always stuck with the Audi dealership when fixing my car because they treat me well. What brand of tire should I go with? Are the more expensive Conti tires worth the extra money?

Welcome to the forum.

The dealership will usually only recommend the O.E. replacement tires. This may be the Conti Sport Contact 2 tires, depending on the model. These are ok tires, not something I would recommend but they are ok. Are you looking for an All Season or Summer tire? Are you going to switch to Winters? Are you more of a spirited driver or more conservative? Tires are like shoes, they are designed for different styles of people.

In regards to the purchasing from the dealership, you can usually get a better deal on a better tire outside the dealer.

Thank you for your response! I'd say that I am more of a spirited driver and I would want to get all season tires. At the moment I plan on using the tires I purchase soon through the winter, and maybe in the future buying winter tires.

 

Try the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 or the Vredestein Quatrac 3. I've not got any direct experience with either tire (I run a dedicated winter set and a dedicated summer set), but I've heard nothing but great things about the Pilot Sport A/S 3, and as for the Vredestein, if they're anything like their summer tires, they'll be outstanding (I currently run Ultrac Sessantas on my S4 for the summer).
