I have been a member of this forum for awhile but I have not posted much. I visited again recently to look up some recall information (camshaft) and while I was looking for that I noticed the "TireRack" thread.

As it so happens I am just about to replace the tires on our 2009 Audi A4 w/ quattro. The original tires - which are still on the car - are the Goodyear Eagle LS-2 (Grand Touring All-Season). These tires are fine and still have tread left but they've become noisy and seem especially sensitive to pressure fluctuations.

The replacements I am considering are:

Yokohama AVID ENVigor (H&V) (High Performance All-Season)
Continental ExtremeContact DWS (Ultra High Performance All-Season)
Pirelli PZero Nero All Season (Ultra High Performance All-Season)

Out of those, I have always like the Continental tires I have used in the past (on other vehicles) so I'm leaning towards the Conti ExtremeContact DWS.

I have never used anything but the TireRack to purchase tires and will continue doing so for many years... it is a great service and I wonder why people buy tires anywhere else.

Anyway, your thoughts? Anything to share in regards to any of these tires?

Out of the 3 tires you have chose I would suggest the Continental DWS. It is one of the top rated tires in it's category. I have personal experience on this tire, as these are the tires I have on my vehicle, and I love them. Which size are you looking for? The only other suggestion I would have would be the Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS Pole Position, that is if it is available in your size.

Curious on performance all seasons or summers on a budget. Looking to not go over the $140 mark ea. , what would you suggest in a 235/40/18?

I would suggest a Continental Extreme Contact DW in the Summer Performance category. For the Performance All Season you should consider the General G-Max AS-03 or the Continental Extreme Contact DWS. All these tires are in that price range or are very close.

Lance, two things - first off, welcome Miles did a lot of good work here and I'm also glad to see that even though he's gone, he has someone here to fill his shoes. Thanks for joining.

Second, and this is directed at your line of work, I'm going to be putting a set of new tires on my wife's 2004 Odyssey EXL in a month or so (sorry guys, not Audi related, so you'll just have to deal with it lol). It has the 225-60-16 stock wheel/tire package now, without TPMS. I want to put a set on the van in the same size, something with very good water-handling properties (I don't want any hydroplaning with her and my kids in the car), which can still handle some snow (I have extra wheels that'll be getting snow tires, but for the occasional couple inches of snowfall, something that can deal with that easily). I'm looking for all-season tires that can deal with that.

I was on Tire Rack yesterday and found the General Altimax tires at a good price ($88 each) and they were highly rated for wet-weather driving. Is there any other tire you'd suggest over these in the same price range, or is that a good, solid, safe choice?

Thank you for the warm welcome! I really hope I am able to assist the folks here on the forum.

The General Altimax RT would be the tire I would recommend. When we tested this tire we absolutely loved the performance it had, especially the wet grip! This tire was specifically designed to fill that void in the tire market for the Van and SUV tires that provide very good comfort without giving up traction. It will handle light snow with no issues at all.
