Default New Tires Rubbing on Wheel Well.

I just bought new tires for my 98' audi A4 1.8T Front Wheel Drive. I have 17 inch rims and bought 235/45R17 wheels and now my tires scrape against my wheel well. I only bought two tires because that's all I was able to afford, but I didn't change the tire size or anything so I don't understand why this would be happening. I had a full car (5 passengers) but even with a full car this would never happen before. Anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening and offer a quick fix for it? I asked the place where I bought the tires and they said all of the tires, regardless of the brand, would be the same size. Please help!

There are small variances even within a size due to the production methods used when the tire is built. One might come out of the mold slightly wider or taller than another. However, usually these difference are negligible and I wouldn't expect rubbing to occur in one and not in another.

So you have used the 235/45R17 before? And if so, they were brand new when you put them on originally?

the tires i had on originally were Hankook and because of money problems i bought a different brand. Milestar to be exact. do you think that maybe it's an issue with the tire brand? and sorry for not posting up sooner! i appreciate the help

gotenks, it's possible that the minor variations in between brands could cause this but I would say the chance is small. I'm sorry but I'm not to sure what else it could be.
