Tires, sinter driving, A4
Must be a million questions regarding "what kind of tire is best for winter driving?" and every case is different.
Here is Pennsylvania we do have some winter weather and it can be nasty at times but overall, unless we live in the boonies, go skiing, or hunt, the worst condition we run into is icy roadways or a real winter storm dumping a load on overnight.
Two years back I put Conti Pros on wife's 2011 A4. Got fairly good wear, no major problems. So with 30,000 miles on the Contis we're looking at tires before the weather gets nasty.
I'm interested in safety first (winter weather)as per braking, grip, sliding, etc. Maybe I'm too frugal but $200 a tire sounds a bit much and want to try an alternative to the Contis. Do we all need the BEST tire? The BEST tire for what? So what's your experience? Have you had good performance (winter) without going with WINTER tires or without buying $200 tires?
Welcome input.
