I am looking for a wheel tire package combination for my 2011 A4 S Line. Currently, I have 19" wheels with Pirelli PZero 255/35ZR19 tires. Should I just get winter tires for these rims or should I look at at winter wheel as well. The other question is if I go with a wheel package, is 18" better than 19" for the winter. Thanks for your help.

Hi TMartins - there are a few reasons to go with a smaller diameter wheel for the winter:

1. Better cost!
2. You can typically get a narrower tire on a small wheel. This helps you because are consolidating the weight of the vehicle on to a smaller contact patch. This causes the tire to cut through the snow where a wider tire would try to plow over it. If you watch dirt rally racing you might see something very similar since the cars are taking advantage of the same concept.
3. You can also get a 1'' taller tire for every 1'' you size down in the wheel. Since tires are more flexible than wheels it allows the tire more room to wiggle and get the biting edges into the snow.
