'bad' vibrations - help me rhonda etc
Hi All
I have a 2001 MY AR 2.7T with double spoke alloys and have started to experience vibrations that ripple thru the whole car from about 40 mph. They were more severe until I swapped the wheels front to back and now the sensation of holding a jack hammer when I brake hard over 45mph has gone (so prob not a warped disk). I have had the wheels balanced and the tracking laser checked and they are all apparently fine/in tolerance. Does anyone know of issues with these double spoke alloys - could I have a wheel problem or some other issue (car related
)- if so suggestions on a remedy much appreciated.
Thanks - the Jelly

Allroadsean,
Welcome to the club. :-) I have had the same issue with my twin spokes for about 3 years and I don't have count on how many times I've been in and out of the tireshops and dealerships trying to get this taken care of. They've tried roadforce balancing, I've had 3 different sets of tires, and all kind of balancing however it has never been permanently fixed. If I'm lucky and the balancing was done right the car feels smooth and nice for a few weeks, then it goes back to same and it just get worse over time.
I've for a long time wanted to try other wheels, I just haven't had a chance to find any and I didn't want to spend the money on a new set. However, talking to a few tireshops lately it becomes really apperant that these twin spoke wheels are very hard to balance right and the "sticky" weights on the inside easily fall off causing the wheels to be out of balance again.
Good luck - I'm really thinking I'll get another set of wheels soon.
