I was wondering if any of you guys had any luck with getting the polished stainless steel exhaust tips fitted to your 2009 Audi A4 Avant/Wagon (2.0T Engine)?

I recently ordered a set from Cadillac Performance (as referenced here: http://www.audiforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=116821) only to find that the tips completely do not fit the tailpipes of the A4 Avant/Wagon. It seems the tips provided are 3 inches in diameter while the tailpipes on my car are 2.5 inches. Way too much slack in diameter to get the tips to fit securely.

The rep from Cadillac Performance said that the tips are just replicas of the original Audi equipment so he is certain that the mix-up was not on his end. In the above forum thread, it seems that another forum member had gotten the tips to fit on his A4 sedan so it sounds like the exhausts may be sized differently between the sedan and avant/wagon.

Anyone know or have any luck?

My build date was 03/09, so the car had the larger tips (~3.5 inches). I didn't want to put 4 or 4.5 inch tips over those, so I had my tips cut off and installed clamp-on tips. I got them cut off at Midas for $20 and the stainless steel tips at PEP boys for $15 each. They're angle cut with a rolled lip.

In addition to my last post, ensure exhaust tips are 80mm diameter - different from 65mm diameter for sedan version.

I have two sets of 2009/2010 Audi OE Factory Accessory stainless steel exhaust extensions for the Avante that I won't use since I have an S4 due to arrive soon and my wife traded her A4 Avante. $100 each including shipping offroad911@tds.net

I know that this won't help any Avant owners, but I just got a set of the 65mm tips in for my 09 a4 sedan. They fit perfectly, just make sure you have a rubber mallet handy as the teeth have a real tight fit on the exhaust pipe. I had to tap mine on and adjust them as they got close to the end.
