2000 a6 4.2

i just bought a 2000 a6 4.2.... when i was driving it home i noticed that the oil pressure gauge only went up about 1/8 of an inch.... what does this mean? is the engine bad?

That is an oil temperature gauge....

yes, that is an oil temp gauge only....no oil pressure gauge on your car.....if oil pressure were low the red oil light would come on.
