Default 1.8T questions about car FS...

Hello A4 owners...

My friend wants to trade his 03 Nissan Sentra in for something European, either BMW or Audi...Upon finding out that the 328i he wanted was being sold, we came across a very nice Audi...

A 2001 A4 1.8T Quattro 5 speed, 70k Santorin Blue i think? over a grey leatherette, 1 owner and only serviced by Audi...We drove the car and it went great, the body was absolutely flawless, not a scratch anywhere and the interior was the same, not even any wear on the leatherette at all, the car shifted great, the clutch and brakes were great too...I looked for the usual B5 maladies and found none of them...The only thing is, that the timing belt/waterpump havent been changed yet....thus the reason the original owner probably traded it in...but it ran great...the car was for sale for $7999...

My questions:

How is the car priced for the car described?

Also, I know what the timing belt/waterpump job cost me on my 30V...is it similar in the 1.8T? What have you guys with 1.8T paid for the job? I also want to know this for my Jetta 1.8T....

Thanks for any help...

The timing belt and water pump only cost $300 and a weekend if you do it yourself.

It depends where you go. It can cost up to $900-1000 if you go to the dealer.

I just bought my 2001 1.8T last month for $8300. It had 77k on it and was in pretty good condition as well. However, the timing belt had been done before I bought it. I have also heard anywhere from $500-1000 for a timing belt job. See if you can get the owner to do the timing belt job before you buy it.
