Was the EGR system on this vehicle put on to prevent cylinder head warpage, or was it strictly an emissions item? The main thing I'm getting at is that I'm wondering if I'm going to have to buy a new (expensive) EGR valve (diaphram's shot..) or if it would be potentially OK to remove the egr valve from the vehicle without worrying about a warped head?
