Default DON'T Kill me,'01.5 S4 APR v. Giac-X

I viewed many upon many thread on chips. I want something that is relatively safe, but performs strong. 2001.5 B5 S4. I'm going back and forth on APR or Giac-X. Any suggestions/input. Also what mods should I make upon doing this, or to do first! Boost controler? what gauges?

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!! I know someone is going to rip me on posting this, so do so and move on so I may read useful information, that is all.

Most common answer - Do a search

My answer - I have a Giac-X on my 01.5 and I love it....now. When I first got it done the power delivery was anything but smooth, but everything that the performance shop said was honest and to the point and in the end worked out great.

If you do the chip go ahead and do the diverter valves....I recommend the OEM 710's, there are others but these were the cheapest and have been proven to work fine

Other suggestions are to upgrade the Throttle body boot, and have fun.

I cannot speak to the other chips but I have read nothing negative about any of them. BEst advice is to find the closest perf hop to you and see waht they sell....that way theres no mailing stuff out and having to wait.

if chipping, prepare for turbo replacement/upgrade in 30-40k miles.

I hate how people say this. If you dont drive like an idiot you will be fine. Dont go into boost until the car is warm(we have an oil temp gauge for a reason). Stay under 3000rpm's till coolent temp is in the middle. As i said dont go into boost till the oil is warm. Also let the car cool. A good rule is 10seconds or every 1min or hard driving. I know many people who have been running GIAC for over 80k miles.

As for the chip apr vs giac...

No chip is more better or reliable.
I have GIAC because it is more stage 3 friendly for when the time comes.
APR is a smoother chip but does not give as much power as the GIAC.

Now ask this...
Is there an APR or GIAC dealer around where u live?
What programs do i want?

Also when doing this you will want new dv's (710n's $35 from dealer u need 2) and a tbb (samco around $50 or bipipe $300)
