Default Transmission

'99 purchased 5 months ago with 80K. 3rd owner. Transmission died on the way to Chicago. Audi delership fixes for $4500. I feel screwed. I notify Audi with a complaint, haven't heard back yet. Has anyone had similar experiences, or success in dealing with Audi on issues such as this?

If you bought the car certified then maybe Audi would do something for you

But if not I dont see why they would

Its out of warranty and on its 3rd owner

I would agree with AudiTech.. if it wasn't certified or there was no warranty you really have no claim. You may want to contact the seller to tell him of your bad news. If its a dealership, they may offer some consolement. I had a similar issue with a truck I bought years ago. When I got it home the rear end went out and I complained to the manager of the place. He didn't have much sympathy until I threatened to Park the truck in front of his dealership with the 'suckered into buying a lemon'written all over the side in White 'chalk' paint. He agreed to send me $1k for my trouble (about half the cost to repair). Was it drastic.. absolutely, but keep in mind I had just bought the truck 100 miles prior. Good luck!
