What would be better to get first on a 1.8T: ko4 or a giac chip? I probably will not have enough cash for both at once. Is there anything else I need to get if I buy the ko4 first? thanks!

 

save money tell you can get both, becuase i may be wrong but i dont think you can run a k04 chip with out a ko4 and i dont think its a good idea to run a ko4 with out a chip

yea id just save till you can get both cuz it will be better off that way, if you get a giac chip now when you decide to k04 the car you will get a discount on the new software but still have to pay like 200 for the program.... but id just wait man

Depending on the dealer, I think it's like a $38+labor fee to upgrade from regular chip to K04 programming. Call a GIAC dealer to confirm though.

 

I was quoted $200 for the upgrade to k04 software.

As for the original question, I was just in the same situation and decided to go with a GIAC chip and a lot of supporting mods. It turned out well, the a4 has much more punch and ALMOST feels like a new car
