Should I buy? 2001 FWD 1.8 A4
New user about to pull the trigger on the purchase of a 2001 A4 here. It's got 48,000 miles, 1.8 L, 5 Speed, FWD, just over $13,000. Reading the FAQs, it sounds like 1.8 is a great choice (counterintuitively). I'm in NY now and enjoy the AWD on my Passat, but I'm moving to North Carolina and it sounds like FWD is fine. Any thoughts on that?
I'll ask the current owner, but it sounds like I am about 30,000 miles shy of timing belt issues. Anything else I should be concerned with?
Thanks for any input you can offer.

Sounds like a decent deal to me. Quattro is a must for most people.. But my fwd does pretty good in bad conditions. The timing belt should be alright until 80-90k miles.. 01's have the updated belt tensioner. If you like it, get it, chip it, love it.
Thats the exact car i have and i love it. I haven't modded it yet but hey i beat my buddies 02 IS 300 on the freeway just by dropping to 3rd. I'd say go for it! That's a good price for that mileage.
