RBV-25mm
Hello,
When I bought my car, there was a box in the trunk with a new diverter valve in it. The box only has this on the label RVM RBV-25mm Racing Bypass Valve.
It looks exactly like the DV in this post.

Would any of you know if they are the same? Or have an idea what mine may be? I'm trying to figure out what it is so I can get some installation instructions.
Second question: I really don't know what has been done to the car but I was told that it had been chipped and there are quite a few exterior mods. It usually feels very peppy so I do believe that is had been chipped. Also, since I found this DV in the trunk, I am going to assume that it still has the stock valve in it. How do you know if that is going bad?
Reason I ask is sometimes it feels really peppy and other times it seems to lag. I've also had an intermittent strange gurgling/air leak type of noise that occurs if I'm driving on the highway for a while at high speeds and then back off, OR when it rains and a really big puddle splashes. Could these things somehow be related?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Mary
Car is a 2004 A4 Quattro 1.8t. Has about 28,000 miles on it. Thanks again.

That's what it looks like but there is no brand anywhere on the box so I don't know if it a turboXS or not.
Do they all install more or less the same? This one has 2 gold nipples (sorry can't think of a better way to describe). One is already attached and has a wider opening and the other in is a bag with some spacers.
There are also 2 larger attachments. One is cone shaped and the other is just a round cylinder. I will try to get some pictures up later tonight.
Am I causing damage to the car by running the stock valve? I would almost be shocked that the person who owned the car before me didn't put it in BUT I don't know why this would be in the car uninstalled.
Are stock valves just flat black and smaller?
Mary
PS. thanks for the quick reply!

If you are chipped, and running the stock DV you arent hurting anything except your performance. Stock wont be able to hold the boost a chip will push through so throw the new one in asap. Its a quick DIY job.
