The blower moter on my 87 4000 stopped working - after I verify that the resistor and fuse are ok, how do you get to this motor/fan? Is it accessable from under the hood or in typical AUDI fashion do I have to disassemble the center console?

my bet is on the under the hood deal .. under the dash you should have just the vent flap regulators

 

It comes out through under the hood, a bit of a PITA. While you are at replace the heater core much easier to kill two birds with one stone.
