Default runing ritch? possible???

I was talking to my dad about y blowoff valves cant work on our cars without extencive tuning. He understood that the chip essentially adds the diverter valve air to the MAF reading to calculate the fuel levels for the injectors. According to him, if i were to say have BOV, the computer would compensate, becasue that is the whole point of the O2 sensor. It is in the Cat, right after the turbo, and it reads the amount of O2 telling the computer weather it is running ritch. according to him, were i to use a BOV, then after a week or so, mabe even less, it would run fine.

is this right? does anyone know?

i said after that week, maby less depending on how quick these computers respond to changes, it would run fine. can anyone support or deny this?

no it will not work maf reads how much air will be going in the adds the amount of fuel to compensate... If that air wanst there and the same amount of fuel is being sent then obvisouly your going to be runing rich... As for longevity it will only get worse and slowly fvck up your engine... UNLESS your running the proper software stand alone... bro use the search.. im getting sick of there being a bov question every week... It is brought up at least once a week.. why not Just get a dv and call it a day...

Okay. i used search. I am not asking about how it works, or if i can use a BOV. that was just an example. I was just wondering if anyone can onfirm or deny, with facts to back up, weather the computer (chipped or otherwise) will compensate. becasue that is the reason the O2 sensor is there.

He actually has a good question... He didnt say he just got an audi and wants it to go vroom pshhh... give the guy a break.

In reply to your post: My A4 ran rich for about 2 weeks this summer and I couldnt take that sh*t so if having a BOV meant id have to wait a week or two for the computer to compensate the less air its taking i saw f*ck that haha...

ECUs have a set table of parameters to run within. If it goes out of those paramteres it runs lean/rich. The O2 sensor is there to monitor combustion, the MAF is there to meter inconing air to make a correct air fuel mixture. Any sort of differentiation within those tables, such as unmetered air, or too much fuel will cause a lean or rich condition.

Go for it. Trying new things is fine in my book. I was in the SHO community and there have been some amazing things done to the SHO engine from people who push the envelope. 600hp has been done, but not without cost. My oppinion is just that. A DV is proven, but a BOV screws a lot of cars up in the long run. Self tuning is effective in every situation, as no car is the same. Good luck.
