Winter driving
I'm looking at the A3 2.0 .... but am a bit worried about driving in snow .... I like the looks of the A3 better than the A4 Avant, but am considering the A4Avant because you can get quattro and 6 speed manual.
Any experiences with the A3 2.0 in winter would be appreciated

Good question.
We get a nice amount of snow here in NJ, starting from Dec until about March.
I also would like to know how the A3 with FWD is in the snow.
I have a Jeep Wrangler that I am keeping for most of my Winter time driving, but I will be tempted to try my A3 in the snow of course

i'd be willing to be a chipped 2.0T fwd will just spin the wheels all day long if you aren't very gentle with the throttle...even in just rain i'm expecting it to be akward to drive. I'll probably drive it in stock mode in the rain.
I have a 06 2.0T FWD. I drove my chipped and very stiff (full H&R/Bilstein) set up from CT to VT all last winter. Car was great fun and I had no problems in snow, ice, or rain UNLESS I was looking for trouble (you know, messing around which is always a BAD idea in slick conditions). I ran 4 Nokian full snows. The ESP gets the car going from a full stop (floor it and it will only creep forward til you have traction) and the ABS worked well.
