Default 2002 1.8T cold air intake

Hey there,

Has anyone installed a cold air intake? I am having trouble removing the airbox and the MAF. It seems like there is another screw somewhere in the bottom of the airbox that I can not see or reach. If anyone has instructions or pics that would be great.

Thanks

This gets asked a lot. Use the search feature and you will find tons of posts about it.

Basically, the intake on the Audi is pretty good and you don't gain much or anything with an intake. The stock airbox is a cold air intake and also like a ram air intake. Aftermarket intakes usually sit in the engine bay (don't bring in air from the very front of the car like the stock setup) and therefore bring in hot air from the engine bay instead of cool air from outside.

Some people do the airbox mod for minor gains. It is stickied at the top of the forum, but here is the link anyways.
