A4 1.8t K&N Cold Air Intake
Hi I would like you guys take on this product.... Will it work on my 98' 1.8t a4... will it add any power???? Is it worth the money? http://www.car-stuff.com/carparts/au...335702821.html
no intake will add any power. if you have a turbo it will make it more noticable sound wise. the k&n oil can also foul the MAF element if you apply too much of it to the filter. i would stick with a stock airbox and filter.
yea exactly what ghost said, it will make your turbo spool up sound louder but thats it, if you are on the stock turbo you might even loose some power due to the fact that you will be getting some hot air...
the stock air box is really efficient and if you want to do something get a K&N panel filter. or if you want the spool up sound do the airbox mod, or just spend the money and get the intake and a heat shield...
p.s the k&n filters come pre-oiled?
so if u r gonna do it wrap it with a cloth so it will soak some of the oil off..sometimes they come over-oiled...

i have the K&N filter on my car.. it works great, sounds great, no fouled MAF or anything.. it comes pre oiled and it was fine.. i cant tell any added power (cause it really doesnt add any like they said) but the sound is awesome.. with a good heatshield like the blinktek one, it might even add some power.. worth it in my opinion
Yes it will. Carbonio is the only intake on the 1.8t to actually show a hp increase. Minimal of course(2chp). Hence my statement that its not worth the $ unless you're worried of the aesthetic portion of your engine and want to cover it in CF.
point is unless you are loaded and want to make your engine bay look a bit cooler get the carbonio..
with that k&n kit and the set-up you have right now youll probably get the same result as getting a carbonio...imo...nothing..
