I cant get any hot air out of my system and it's getting cold here. Any way to test for faults in climate head unit, the heater valve or actuator? Head unit is a warranty replacement (probably reman) and includes seat heater controls. Also, how do I pull the head unit and where is the heater valve and/or actuator located?

 

Ok - i took the dash apart and it looks like flaps and valve actuators are moving ok. Could it be something inside the hot water valve? Or maybe a bad heater core? Car's only five years old and well maintained - I doubt it's a clogged core - unless that's a common thing? Anyone? Beuller? Beuller?

Went through the codes, but cant figure out what they mean. Doesnt matter cause I took it to local dealer. There were no fault codes so they seem to think its the thermostat, but I have doubts since both heater hoses next to the battery are hot, temp is normal, level is at MIN. Of course it costs a friggin grand to get to and replace the thermostat, might as well to pump/pulley/belt too. And if that doesnt solve it, well...

Other alternative is clogged heater core. Any way to test that?

 

If there is air in the antifreeze, it must be bled.
If both hoses are hot this is not the case.

 

Service writer at Anchor Audi in Lynbrook NY said it's a 'self bleeding system'. I never heard of that. I have a funny feeling they want to do more work than is necessary
