98 A4 TIPTRONIC WON'T GO INTO GEAR??

HAVE 98 A4 TIPRONIC ANY SUGESTIONS ON WHERE TO START OR TROUBLESHOOT?

Enough of the Caps Lock please. Could be dirty contacts in the shifter or a bad tip position sensor?

will it not change gear only in tip mode, or is it all the time (even in auto mode)?
My guess is defective TCU or tranny fluid is toast/very low

Won't engage in auto or tip mode. Fluid is a-ok.
