Last night while tooling around a parking lot, I got too close to a curb and scratched up my rims. I'm lucky it didn't pinch flat the tire (right rear), but it did take a gash out of the tire. There are actually two spots that were rubbed, one deeper where I went over the curb, and another where I came off it.

What (if anything) can I do to improve this? I was thinking to gently file (or dremmel tool?) the rim smooth again, and then apply some sort of coating? Recommendations please.

that looks nasty the tyre should be changed as a matter of safety and the alloy could be solder filled to build it back up then buffed with the dremel then painted with alloy paint

 

OUCH!

If you get spinning too fast, that tire could blow out on you. Might be worth changing if you have the means.

At least the wife didn't do it. LOL

just take it to the shop, it they can fill and buff it for about 100-150 bucks.

 

go to the dealer and ask how much it is for the guy to repair it.

 

Thanks! I've decided to just live with it. Might try to dremmel it in the Spring. I'll probably buy new rims when I need new tires, in a year or so.
