Default Curb weight

Greets all I'm back again I'll probably be a rabid poster for awhile since I just got the car and want to sponge all the knowledge I can about it. Please be patient. I did a search for weight, vehicle weight and curb weight, does anyone know the true curb weight of the S4?

I've found numbers on the I-net varying from 1Lb (Uhhh okay ) to 3704 with the most common weight being 3593. I am assuming that the 3593 is a base S4 w/ no options and the 3704 is pretty much loaded out. Mine has everything but the Sport package so I assume (again) that I'm in the upper 3600's in curb weight. Anyone feel qualified to confirm or smack down these claims please feel free.

Oh I also found an article that stated the S4 had 16" discs with 4 POTs which blew my mind b/c how would they fit behind 17" wheels. Further searching found that a more conservative 12.6in disc along with 2 Pots are actually binding the car in the front. What are the rear brakes on this car?

thanks
Jerm

Default RE: Curb weight

Having owned an S4 I am pretty sure there are no 16" discs in the front brakes. The RS6 brakes are massive and I am pretty sure they have 14.4 inches in the front (correct me if I am wrong anyone, I should know this however since I own one). On the weight issue 3500-3700 is about right. A lot of it depends on what type of transmission you have. Clearly the tiptronic will weigh more. I had the tip and I think the curb weight was somewhere around 3600 so you are pretty much right on the money with weight. Just as a sidenote: one of the tech's at my dealership has an A4 ultra sport and he put Cheyenne Turbo breaks on his car from a wrecked Cheyenne. I took a look at them and I swear the breaks where almost the size of his wheel. It was ridiculous. Only wierd thing was he had those breaks in front and the stock in the back. Apparently he said that the ABS break system will work out the difference in the computer. Doesn't sound so safe to me.

Good point about the trannie weight. I forgot to take tah into account. I'm probaaly in the low (relatively speaking) 3600's then So not too much heavier than my WRX was.

Now what size are these stock rear brakes?
Thanks

Not sure but not even close to the size of the Turbo breaks. Think about the weight difference between a Cheyenne and an A4.
