load bay cover

load bay cover
hi everyone
have just bought a a6 avant 1.9tdi 130 bhp sport 2002,its great, apart from the plastic lug on the retractable load cover is snapped off so the cover can not be used,my main dealer says i have to buy the whole cover,but looking at the other lug you can remove it,any ideas?
