What's up everyone...I just bought a used 98 A4 2.8. My problem is with the door locks. I'll give you a run down...

I was inside the car with my friend. I unlocked the doors with the door switch located at the driver's side, so my friend can buy something. I then lock the doors and waited for my friend. As he approached, I unlock the doors but he couldn't open the doors...I tried locking and unlocking with the switch again and still the doors would not open from the exterior.

However, I tried another test, I unlock the doors with the switch and closed the doors, if I didn't touch the lock and unlock switch, I no problems opening the door.

Sorry for the long note...is this a problem or is there something I can do???

Thanks...

when u unlock the door, does the lock go up or just stay down? Myabe try unlocking the door with the key, and retry the powerlock after that.

Yes, that's correct. When I tried to unlock the door with the switch the lock just stays down. Another info...when I do use the remote, it works fine. It locks and unlocks, with the remote that is...

Just a guess, but it might be an electrical problem for that door in the connection with the power doorlock switch on the drivers side. I don't know if there is a fuse for this, but if there is you might want to try and replace it. Its probably not just a fuse, but you never know.</P>

So does just the front passenger side door not lock or unlock, or is it all the doors. Because I checked and there is a fuse for the central locking system, but if its just that one door, then I highly doubt its a fuse.

sounds like its one of Audi's common electrical system problems, i have had the same thing but it as a chevy lumina and it was a bad contact inside the door

It's all the doors that does not unlock when I press onto the switch. But it does lock all the doors. Also, as I mention before, when I use the remote, the door locks and unlocks.
